Internationally acclaimed actor/director and performance capture artist ANDY SERKIS (Lord of the Rings Trilogy, King Kong, Sex& Drugs & Rock & Roll), Independent film producer JONATHAN CAVENDISH (Bridget Jones, Elizabeth the Golden Age, Gangster No1) and development producer TORA YOUNG, have founded a new British film company – CAVEMAN FILMS.
Based in Soho, London, Caveman Films will produce cutting edge comedy, horror and thriller films. Its first film, ALL GOOD CHILDREN, is being shown in Director’s fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival on May 19.
Andy Serkis says: “Caveman Films seeks to take British film-making to the next stage in its evolutionary development by showing how small independents can use their cutting edge creative talents to make big films for international audiences.
“We aim to be the creative link in the next stage of storytelling – in all its formats – linking traditional film-making to next generation video gaming, from art-house to mainstream, stand-up comedy to experimental theatre.”
Jonathan Cavendish says: “The British have a reputation for making great small independent movies – but we have the home-grown digital expertise and talent to make cutting edge major studio movies too. The Imaginarium and Caveman Films will help to expand the imagination and scale of British Film making so that we can produce commercial films for international audiences.”
Caveman Films have a slate of new comedies, thrillers and horror films, which will be rolled into production over the next two years.
Tora Young says: “We want Caveman to become a major player in the British film industry, attracting talented comedians, actors and directors to work in our creative environment to produce films that entertain, thrill and excite audiences world-wide.”
They’re also the creative partners behind THE IMAGINARIUM- a pioneering UK based Performance Capture venture (Studio/Consultancy/School and Production team) that aims to push the boundaries of digital characterisation in film, video games, commercials and the live performing arts.
Andy Serkis will unveil plans for the Imaginarium at a lecture for the UK Film Council at the Cannes Film Festival on May 15.
